The Rotary Club of New Canaan is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of our founding

Details:

Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Roger Sherman Inn

6:00pm – Cocktails

7:00pm – Dinner

8:00pm – Special Appearance of John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States, as portrayed by our very own George Baker

Make plans to help celebrate the Rotary Club of New Canaan’s 60th Anniversary of ‘Service Above Self’ for the New Canaan Community. The Rotary Club of New Canaan and its members have built a legacy of unmatched community service. Rotary International claims 1.2 million members around the globe as part of over 35,000 Rotary Clubs located in over 200 countries. However few, if any, can match the spirit of comradery and friendship enjoyed by members of the Rotary Club of New Canaan!  New Canaan is a remarkable community of individuals who choose to make contributions of time and talent to improve the quality of life for all, and many of those individuals are Rotarians.  We look forward to celebrating with the entire community!

The evening will feature a special presentation by New Canaan Rotary Member George Baker as President John Adams.

Hear an inspiring presentation by George Baker, the renowned re-enactor who has been portraying the historical figure of President John Adams since 2008 for colleges, businesses, conventions across the United States at venues large and small. These include the Presidential Libraries of Truman, Eisenhower, and George H.W. Bush, American Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, the New-York Historical Society, the Maine Historical Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Revolution, and his program was featured on NPR's Studio 360. He will be dressed in the clothes he would have worn as the Second President of the United States 1797-1801.

George is inspiring, humorous and entertaining during his program which includes his singing historical songs while accompanying himself on a digital piano. Learn about his patriotic views of the nation, its history and his wife, Abigail, and his family life, and his fifty year friendship with Thomas Jefferson from their meeting at the Continental Congress in 1775, their joint efforts for independence, their consultations as fellow ambassadors to England and France, the competition for the presidency in 1796 and 1800 and their reconciliation in the last fourteen years of their lives ending on July 4th, 1826 the day both Adams and Jefferson died.

Regrets:
